Prof Ganga Prusty Professor Founder

Gangadhara Prusty is a distinguished academic in UNSW’s Mechanical Engineering department, specialising in the advanced manufacturing of composite materials and biomaterials. His notable achievement includes the co-invention of innovative dental composites, now patented across major markets in the world. This innovation represents a significant breakthrough in the field of biomaterials.

Leading the Australian Composites Manufacturing CRC (ACM CRC) bid, Professor Prusty unified 33 partners in a transformative, decade-long (2023-2033) initiative valued at $250 million, showcasing his leadership in advancing the manufacturing automation of composites.

His scholarly contributions have earned him the prestigious “Australian Award for University Teaching,” reflecting his commitment to academic excellence. With over 300 published articles and a solid track record of mentoring 35 PhD students and over 40 Postdoctoral Fellows, he is recognised as a mentor who significantly contributes to the development of future engineering leaders.

Jayshri Bullen Chief Operating Officer

Jayshri has over 10 years commercial leadership experience and 15+ years working with leading spinal companies. She has extensive knowledge of the ANZ market, planned and driven strategic initiatives within organisations, and has developed, trained and lead successful sales teams across ANZ. Furthermore, her experience as a professional engineer designing, developing and adhering to regulatory compliance affords her a deep understanding of the medical device lifecycle.

As Chief Operating Officer at Setonix Technologies, she will be utilising her expertise in Strategic Planning and Market Creation of Spinal Fusion devices and Real-time monitoring solutions to bring the company’s patented technology to market.

Dr Jerrin Thadathil Varghese Research & Development Engineer

Dr Jerrin Thadathil Varghese is a Research Associate at UNSW with expertise in advanced composite materials, fibre-reinforced biocomposites, computational modelling, and mechanical characterisation. He holds a PhD in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering from UNSW, for which he received the Dean’s Award for Outstanding PhD Theses. His research experience spans composite material development and manufacturing, finite element modelling, experimental design, mechanical and physical characterisation, microscopy and materials analysis, and statistical optimisation.

At Setonix Technologies, Jerrin supports the research, development and translation of the company’s bioactive composite technologies for orthopaedic applications. His work includes experimental planning, material and implant testing, analysis and interpretation of results, technical reporting, and supporting the progression of Setonix technology from laboratory research toward clinically and commercially viable medical-device solutions.

His combination of materials engineering, computational analysis and experimental research supports Setonix in advancing its biomaterial technologies from research and testing towards practical orthopaedic applications.
